SALT LAKE CITY — Thousands of people came together to support animals who don't have homes Saturday.
Strut your Mutt marked its 18th year in Salt Lake City, bringing more than 3,000 dogs and their owners together for a nice walk in the park to raise awareness on animal adoption and rescue.
"This is a record breaking year by a few hundred compared to last year," said Gregory Castle of the Best Friend Animal Society. "There are so many animal lovers and dog lovers in particular in Salt Lake. They love to come out here on a nice fall day."
For almost 30 years, Best Friends Animal Society has been working to reduce the number of animal deaths in shelters. They said they have a nationwide goal of raising $2 million for 240 local shelters and rescue groups.
