DUCHESNE — The Utah Highway Patrol has released the name of the man who was killed Tuesday when he crashed a pickup truck that was later reported stolen.
Isaac Miller, 19, died after the truck went off an oilfield road and rolled 200 feet down a steep hillside, UHP Cpl. Todd Johnson said.
A passerby spotted the crash and called police about 5:45 a.m. Troopers and Duchesne County sheriff's deputies were investigating the crash when they received a report that the truck Miller was driving had been stolen.
A short time later, two other people called police to report that their trucks had been stolen and crashed. All three of the trucks were taken from homes along a four-mile stretch of the Old River Road north of Duchesne, according to Duchesne County Sheriff Travis Mitchell.
Investigators believe Miller left a party, stole all three trucks and crashed them. Alcohol use is believed to be a "major factor" in the incident," Mitchell said.
