SALT LAKE CITY — Two men who robbed a bank Monday left a Christmas gift for those inside as they took off with the stolen cash. It was a box wrapped in blue paper with snowmen printed on it, which they claimed was a bomb.

But the only thing the box contained was a package of Mrs. Freshley's Honey Buns.

The Salt Lake City Division of the FBI is now offering a reward of $10,000 for information that leads to the capture of two men they are calling the "Honey Bun Bandits."

The men are alleged to have robbed a Zions Bank Monday at 1420 South and 300 West. While no one was injured in the robbery, they were armed and pointed their guns at both customers and employees.

"They ordered employees to the floor, pointing their guns at the employees," said FBI Special Agent Adam Quirk. "They also pointed their guns at the customers who were in the bank at the time of the robbery and ordered them to the floor as well."

One man watched the customers on the floor while the other robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Suspect descriptions
  • Suspect 1: Adult male between 6 and 6 feet 2 inches tall, wearing a dark colored hooded sweat shirt
  • Suspect 2: MAdult male between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall, wearing white hooded sweat shirt

Photographs of the men were captured by a bank surveillance camera, but their faces are obscured by what look like ski masks.

"The FBI continues to work with the Salt Lake City Police Department to solve this case," FBI spokeswoman Deborah Dujanovic Bertram said a statement. "Both bank robbers should be considered armed and dangerous."

The FBI advised citizens not to approach the robbers, but to call the FBI at 801-579-1400, or the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000, with any information.
