SALT LAKE CITY — A firefighter went to new heights to win the love of his life Tuesday. With careful planning and the use of some heavy equipment, Kyle Marston pulled off a very memorable marriage proposal.

"Prince Charming" made his way to his beloved, not on horseback, but on a modern-day fire truck.

Marston spent four months planning the proposal to his soon-to-be bride. But with emotions running high, the whole event was a bit of a blur.

Good thing he caught the romantic moment on video.

Karlie Wichma, our story's damsel in distress, unknowingly awaited her hero's arrival trapped in an office meeting. When Marston arrived, he quickly employed the fire truck's ladder and "rose to the occasion."

When he opened ring box and asked Wichma to marry him, she replied with an excited "yes."

"I can't remember what I said," Marston said, following the proposal.

"You said, 'I can't think of what to say, but I love you. Will you marry me?'" Wichma told him.

Good thing he has her to remember the details.

But this story gets even sweeter. It makes sense that their engagement would begin in uniform because that's just how they first met.

"We met on a call, it was a traffic accident," Marston explained. "I was there to do the medical, and she was there to write tickets."

But Tuesday their celebration was not surrounded by noisy traffic, just enthusiastic friends.

The happy couple hasn't set a wedding date yet.
