SALT LAKE CITY — From dinners to parties, lunches to desserts, Jell-O is no stranger to Utahns. In fact, Utah is considered the Jell-o capital.

People in Utah love Jell-O. Back in 2001, company spokesman Bill Cosby even made an appearance at the state capital honoring Utah's consumption.

"We're going to show the French something they've never seen before. We're going to show them lime Jell-O with shreds of carrot," he said at the time.

Its roots may be in LeRoy, NY, but Jell-O has found a second home in the beehive state. It's not surprising that Utah consumes more Jell-O, particularly the lime-flavored version, than any other state in the country. But what is interesting is what Utahns put inside it — everything from fruits like pineapple and banana to veggies like onion and yes, carrot.

It's more than just a staple; it's practically an icon. There's even an Olympic pin featuring Jell-O.

We found a lot of people who loved Jell-O, but the lime and carrot mix — not so much.
