BOX ELDER COUNTY — A motorcyclist died after hitting a mattress on I-15. The Utah Highway Patrol is looking for the person who lost the debris on the freeway.
UHP identifies the motorcyclist as Royce Munns, 46, of Brigham City.
Cpl. Todd Johnson said Munns was southbound on I-15 at milemarker 353 in Box Elder County at 10:43 p.m. Monday when he collided with the mattress. Emergency crews who responded to the scene said Munns wasn't wearing a helmet.

"A helicopter was dispatched but the driver was pronounced dead before the chopper could arrive," Johnson said.
Troopers want to find whoever lost the mattress. That person could face charges.
"We certainly would want to talk to them and interview them and see what their story is," Johnson said. "Obviously someone did not secure their load properly. At a minimum that's something we would be looking at."
Troopers ask that if anyone saw someone lose a mattress on I-15 in Box Elder County where this crash took place to call them.
They also remind motorcyclists to wear a helmet.
