St. George — Some Southern Utah students whose reading has drastically improved earned a private performance of Tuacahn's new musical, Aladdin.
Anthony Frausto was two grade levels behind in reading scores. But now, the little boy is tutoring others.
"You're always worried that he's behind," said his mother, Lizeth Aguirre. "And knowing that he's caught up, you know, it's a little bit of weight off your shoulders knowing that he's caught up and he's that grade level."
Anthony joined the Read Today Summer Reading Challenge for the musical, and the program hopes more will join the challenge.
I hope that word of mouth just spreads like wild fire, and people hear about it, and get the program started in their school," said Megan Nylander, who works with Read Today.
To keep the kids' progress moving forward, each child left the show with a bag of books to encourage their reading all summer long.
