DRAPER -- Winds have caused problems up and down the Wasatch Front Monday. In some places the gusts have been up to 60 miles an hour.

Damage to a Harmon's grocery store in Draper was significant, with the broken glass lining the frozen food isle closest to the windows.

Employees said that around 8:00 a.m. they could hear the glass starting to crack. There were only about a dozen people in the store and so an announcement was made to move to the north side of the building. Moments later, there were two or three big gusts and the glass panels began to shatter.

"The two windows fell separately," said chef Drake Marques. "When they fell they collapsed and cracked. The second window fell on top of the freezer case and sat there for a second and then collapsed and fell down.

"The scary thing for me was seeing the wall bowing in and out, and it's a brick wall so it must have got down in the drywall," he said.

On southbound I-15 at the Point, wind forced an empty semi onto its side - blocking all lanes of traffic. Eventually vehicles used the shoulder to get by, but it caused about a 90 minute delay.

American Fork residents saw shingles ripped from rooftops, and in Saratoga Springs - wind gusts blew a family's RV from their driveway onto a rock wall. There was also a light pole that went down in the area.

The wind gusts have died down here at the Point of the Mountain, but the area remained breezy.
