WEST VALLEY CITY — Police in West Valley City are looking for a group of people they say were involved in an early morning shooting.
Two men were walking down 3500 South close to 3450 West around 1:15 a.m. when they passed a car parked outside a fast-food restaurant. Four people were sitting inside the car eating food.
Words were exchanged between the pedestrians and the people in the car, and that led to an argument. The four people got out of the car and a fight broke out.
Lt. Scott Buchanan of the West Valley City Police Department said, "The two men on the sidewalk then fled on foot. One of the suspects did fire some shots and hit one of the individuals who ran in the leg."
The man who got shot was hit by two bullets. Despite the injury, Buchanan said the man is in stable condition. Police are looking for their car, a Chrysler 300 M, which they said had chrome rims.
Buchanan said it did not appear as though the victims and suspects involved knew each other. The shooting is not believed to be gang-related.
