SALT LAKE CITY -- Those who frequent the century-old Deseret Book for LDS titles will now only have to reach for their iPhone.
Deseret Bookshelf, the first app that Deseret Book has offered, will allow users to download roughly 1,500 titles for perusal on their mobile device.
- Jesus the Christ
- Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith
- Discourses of Brigham Young
- Lectures on Faith
- History of Joseph Smith by His Mother
- The Miracle of Forgiveness
- Gospel Doctrine
- Autobiography of Parley P. Pratt
It comes loaded with a free copy of the King James Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and other standard LDS religious texts, as well as eight free books.
Deseret Bookshelf is free and allows users to purchase e- books and search every title's full text, though features like highlighting and annotating will likely come with later versions, according to the app's website.
The app is supported by the iPhone, iPod and iPad, and functionality for Android devices should be available later in the summer.
