(KSL News) The Department of Energy wants to develop new fuel sources, but Utah Senator Orrin Hatch says it may only drive gasoline prices up.
Hatch was one of five Senators who voted against a $32 billion energy tax package. The idea was that new research centers will find ways to develop alternative fuels with non-food sources.
The Deseret Morning News reports Hatch felt developing and researching unconventional energy sources may not reduce gas prices for decades.
