Greg Neft, KSL NewsradioOne motorist on I-215 got a front-row seat to the chase, and almost became a part of it.

Kris Mecham says he knew something was strange when he saw the police officer throw the spikes on the road.

Mecham says Allgier apparently tried to avoid spikes. He says, "The vehicle swerved radically to miss him, which shot him straight across the freeway, directly at me. So I swerved hard to my left, braking and turning at the same time."

He says he missed getting hit by two feet. Being that close to the suspect, Mecham says he got a pretty good look at Allgier. He says, "It was a hard, cold stare that I got from him."

Mecham says he heard about the chase on KSL and thought it was getting close, but he never thought he'd ever get that close.
