PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Provo City is trying to decide what to do with nearly $5 million in extra tax revenue.
The city has decided what to do with half of the $4.9 million windfall, but tonight Provo residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on how they think the rest should be spent.
The mayor and City Council have agreed on how to spend about $3 million, but the council is scheduled to finalize what to do with the remaining $1.95 million at tonight's meeting.
It's likely they'll approve using more than $1.1 million to pay for the expected deficit in the iProvo telecommunications project. That decision has been a point of contention for the mayor and council.
Another chunk of the funds, $400,000, will probably go to seismic upgrades for City Hall -- something the mayor and City Council see eye-to-eye on.
