He is expected to remain at LDS Hospital about five days to recover. It is unknown if Shurtleff, 53, will need extensive chemotherapy treatments in addition to the removal of the cancer, but doctors aren't ruling it out just yet.
Shurtleff first revealed his health issue in a YouTube video that was posted online by his office Dec. 3. He said then that he didn't expect the surgery to interfere too much with his work and he only expected to be out of the office a couple weeks.
