SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- In the winter, they're inversions. In the summer, we call them ozone alerts.

Air-quality officials are urging Utahns to drive less to avoid adding tailpipe emissions to hot, dirty air. It's a bad mix.

Friday and Saturday could be red-alert days in Salt Lake, Davis and Weber counties, with temperatures reaching 100 degrees. People with breathing problems will need to avoid the heat and stay indoors.
