John Daley ReportingIt's been raining, and the wind has been blowing since last night, but you may be hard pressed to find too many people complaining about it.
Our warm spring weather had many people relieved to see rain and snow today.
Snow was falling on the Wasatch Mountains at around 7,000 feet. It snowed on Parley's Summit. The big, wet flakes brought much-needed water to the parched landscape.
Heavy rains hit northern Utah. The east benches in Davis and Salt Lake County got significant amounts of rain today. Driving was a bit dicey in places. Standing water on Interstate 15 near Lagoon forced drivers to slow down.
Some evidence of the high winds last night were spotted from Chopper Five. A warehouse just north of the new IKEA store in Draper looked like it had one section of its roof blown off.
Folks on the street today say it may not feel like June, but most still managed to dig out their umbrellas and warm clothes. When asked about the weather, Temple Square worker Wes Packer said, "We'll, we need it. But it would have been great if [it] had stayed up in the hills."
Syracuse resident Randy Neilson said, "I like it. I like the moisture. I like to fish. The rivers, the reservoirs don't have enough water unless we get enough rain, so I'm glad to have it."
When asked where his coat was, Syracuse resident Josh Neilson said, "Uh, at home. You don't need a coat this time of year."
There was some street flooding and some traffic lights out here and there, but everyone seemed to survive OK.
