SALT LAKE CITY -- Some cities across the country are not allowing teenagers to go trick-or-treating; others say even 12 is too old.

In Utah, it appears opinions vary. Some adults say they don't want to see anyone taller than them ring the front door bell. Others say teenagers are downright scary begging for candy.

At the Halloween City store in Salt Lake, sales associate Desiree Edgar is fine with teen trick-or-treaters who put in effort.

"I'd definitely give out more candy to a 17-year-old that was dressed up really fun than one who just had a white sheet with holes cut out," Edgar says.

But she puts the cut-off at 18 years old.

"I really wish we could all go trick-or-treating, but when you get more responsibilities, that's when you have to leave things like that behind," Edgar says.

Many say if you can buy candy yourself, you shouldn't go trick-or-treating.
