SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The 16-year-old son of Gov. Jon Huntsman broke a leg and needs surgery after crashing his motorcycle.
Jon Huntsman III was riding with his father Monday at Miller Motorsports Park when he "landed wrong" after a jump, said Lisa Roskelley, spokeswoman for the governor. "He had a severe dislocating and fracture of his right leg," she said. "He's been in the hospital and will likely be operated on this week."
Huntsman's son was wearing a helmet, said Roskelley, who described him as an "expert rider." "This is just one of those things in our sport we love so much. Sometimes we have accidents and we have injuries," the governor said in a statement.
