A 38-year-old West Jordan man died this morning after police were called to his home. Now West Jordan police have put several officers on administrative leave and an investigation is underway. Before police arrived, the victim's wife and kids had gone to a family member's home. The man reportedly had been drinking and fired shots inside the house.

West Jordan police say they received a domestic violence call a little after 1 a.m. The address was one that they were familiar with, but today things would end differently.

When police arrived at the home the man came out of the house and police confronted him. A press release from the West Jordan police department says shots were fired and the man died at the scene.

Neighbors describe a night of commotion and a lot of confusion. Brandon and Ashley Wach were woken up at 2:00 in the morning.

Brandon Wach, Neighbor: "An officer came to the door and they told me and my wife to grab our stuff and evacuate the neighborhood because our neighbor across the street, there were gunshots fired inside the house."

David Garcia, Neighbor: "All of a sudden we hear gunfire, six to eight shots, it's kind of hard to count when you're asleep and get woken up. And I get up and look out the window and I see SWAT running down the street and police cars all over."
