Sam Penrod Reporting The dangerous missions for U.S. soldiers in Iraq thousands of miles away, continue to hit home in Utah. Yesterday, Vigil Chance Martinez, who has served in the Army since 1992 was killed by a roadside bomb while serving in Iraq. Martinez was in the middle of his second tour of duty to Iraq since the war began.
Martinez grew up in Utah and ever since he graduated from high school in West Jordan 15 years ago. Family members say he's been living his dream as a soldier in the U.S. Army.
Tonight his family is remembering him as a dedicated soldier and family man. Chance Martinez is survived by his wife and five children. They are currently living in Germany, where Martinez has been stationed.
Funeral plans for Vigil Chance Martinez are still being worked out.
