Emergency workers in Provo are using interactive computer game systems to help prepare them for the next big disaster.

At the new command training center, each firefighter sits in a cubicle filled with computer screens, but each person has his or her own view of what's happening during this virtual house fire.

It's kind of like playing the video game Halo online with other players. They have no idea what will happen next. Utah Fire and Rescue Academy's Gary Wise says, "They don't know that that garage has a 55-gallon drum of kerosene in it. That gives them a real big surprise when that blows up."

Wise says with the training center they'll eventually be able to go inside real buildings, such as a local school or mall, take digital pictures and then virtually train inside those real buildings.
