SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The man charged with the September 1998 murder of a 10-year-old Utah girl has been extradited to Utah.

Matthew John Breck was an Idaho prison inmate in January when prosecutors said DNA evidence linked him to the stabbing death of Anna Palmer.

The 31-year-old Breck was returned to Utah on Thursday and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. He awaits a hearing Monday in 3rd District Court.

Breck was 19 and lived just down the street from Palmer when she was killed.

Palmer was found unconscious on the front porch of her family's Salt Lake City home. She suffered five stab wounds to the throat.

Breck was serving time in Idaho for a 2001 conviction on charges of sodomy/lewdness of a minor child under 16.
