(KSL News) Crime is a growing problem throughout the state. That's why learning to help victims is so important.

Almost 300 victim advocates gathered today for the 20th annual Crime Victims Conference at the South Towne Expo Center. Law enforcement officers, prosecutors and other social workers met to sharpen their skills through a series of workshops.

Utah Council on Victims of Crime Holds 20th Annual Conference

Maureen Hearns, the director of music therapy at Utah State University, led a workshop. "We used song and other music therapy intervention and creative arts intervention to help women process through the abuse they've experienced," she explained.

The conference runs through tomorrow and is sponsored by the Utah Council on Victims of Crime.
