SPRINGVILLE -- A Springville woman who used the website Etsy.com to sell her sewing services now faces the potential of numerous fraud charges.

Police Lt. Dave Caron said the victims had used the website, which puts buyers in touch with sellers of homemade services and goods, to attract business. But some of the customers, who sent money in before receiving the product, didn't get their orders.

"As far as we could tell, the products were never made," said Caron. He said a lot of people asked for their money to be refunded. Some got refunds, some did not.

Caron said it wasn't clear if Lisa McCloud, 48, started out with the idea of defrauding people, but she still didn't deliver.

"Anytime you're doing something online, you need to make sure you don't put yourself at risk," said Caron. "Because you don't know really who you're sending money to, or who you're doing business with."

McCloud was arrested on charges of communications fraud and operating a business without a license.
