SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Several Utah National Guard soldiers are now overseas helping provide medical care to the needy.
Military officials say about 20 soldiers are currently in Morocco for a "Medical Readiness Training." That's where doctors, dentists and nurses with the Utah Guard work with the Moroccan army to provide medical care for the village people.
The Utah soldiers are expected to be in Morocco until the end of this month.
Last fall, Utah soldiers set up a temporary medical facility in Tan Tan, Morocco to give free health checkups. Neighboring villages, however, got word of the clinic and by the end of the trip, nearly 8,000 people were treated.
