Sandra Yi ReportingAfter deliberating for about five and half hours, the jury in the case of convicted murderer Robert Houston came back with a sentence of life in prison without parole. Eleven of the twelve jurors decided on this sentence.
Prosecutor William McGuire said, "This is a young man who is dangerous, and a young man who we don't need out free to perhaps on another occasion attack one of the members of our public."
Houston's mother said her son was,"crying right now. He's upset. I have had little contact with them but I have had a few visits with him. He's expressed extreme remorse."
Last month, Houston pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of Raechale Elton. She was a group home counselor for Youth Health Associates. She gave him a ride to his independent living facility during a snow storm. When she was inside the house, he raped her and then slit her throat and stabbed her multiple times.
Formal sentencing will happen on May 1st.
