OREM -- A Utah County health clinic has found a way to keep their patients busy in the waiting room while helping kids in need at same time.
North Orem Family Medicine and InstaCare manager Jana Rae Grose say they wanted a way to make a difference in the community while at the same time addressing the long waits some patients experience out in the waiting room. They brain stormed and came up with the idea of letting patients tie quilts that will be donated to charity.
They put out the quilting frames and material three weeks ago and decided to leave it out for a month.
"We anticipated having three quilts done in the time frame that we had, and right now we have six done and one more week," Grose says.
Employees also donate time to bind the quilts, and patients have been asking to keep the quilting program year-round.
Grose says they'll try to keep it as long as they can continue to get the quilting materials donated. She says they're looking at giving the quilts to Primary Children's Medical Center or somewhere in Utah County where they will go to children who need them.
