NEW HARMONY, Utah (AP) -- Utah will soon receive more than $300,000 from FEMA to help pay for the damage left behind from a 2005 wildfire.
The money will help reimburse the state for fighting the Blue Springs Fire, which destroyed more than 12,000 acres in Washington County back in 2005.
Authorities say the fire, which threatened more than 600 homes, forced residents to evacuated after flames spread within yards of several homes in and around New Harmony. The fire was just one of several that started by lightning that summer.
At the time, investigators said the total cost of damage was nearly $2 million.
