(KSL News) Students from a Salt Lake school honored a longtime friend today.
Mary Smit has been a crossing guard at Bonneville Elementary for 30 years. Today students surprised her with a special program.
Mary started out working as a volunteer when her kids were there, but she liked it so much, she stayed. And she's not going anywhere. "As long as my health's OK, I'll be here."
Mary not only helps the kids safely cross the street, but she's part of the school family.
