CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- State water officials and others are hoping for a quick resolution to a Nevada Supreme Court ruling that many believe throws the validity of thousands of water rights into question.
During a hearing Tuesday in Carson City, lawyers, utility representatives, water users and others pushed for a special legislative session to clear up confusion stirred up by the high court in a Jan. 28 ruling over Southern Nevada Water Authority's water rights in eastern Nevada.
That order said the state engineer violated the law by failing to act within a year of when the applications were filed in 1989.
State officials say a special legislative session may be needed to clarify the law.
