SALT LAKE COUNTY -- Six people are under arrest and authorities are looking for one more person in connection with a bust at an alleged Salt Lake County chop shop.

Agents from the Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division moved in on the house near 5600 South and U.S. Highway 111 Tuesday morning after arresting two women they had followed from the home in a suspect car.

"Our officers have been recovering parts outside and more specifically inside the garage," said Charlie Roberts, a spokesman for the division. "All types of vehicles, trailers, cars, trucks, recreational vehicles, this is a classic chop-shop."

Roberts said authorities traced at least two stolen cars to the address and began investigating. Parts were scattered all over the yard.

He said, "In many vehicles, the parts are worth more broken down than the actual vehicle. So, you can take a $10,000 vehicle and get $20,000 [to] $25,000 out of it."

Some of the recovered vehicles had their Vehicle Identification Numbers removed. "There were a lot of vehicles, a lot of parts," Roberts said.

Roberts said the investigation had been underway for about three weeks.
