Your Thursday afternoon could get really dark today. No, not because you wish it was the weekend, but thanks to a partial solar eclipse!
Dr. Inese Ivans, an Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Utah tells us about this cosmic event. "I love solar eclipses," she says. "Everyone around the world can realize they're part of the cosmos."
The eclipse will start just after 3:00 and will reach it's maximum effect around 4:30.
But remember, DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN! Even wearing sunglasses won't protect your eyes.
You can join the watch party at the Natural History Museum where they have special glasses, and telescopes where you can view the eclipse. You can also buy the specialty glasses at Clark Planetarium.
