SALT LAKE CITY — A Uintah County girl, who made headlines after losing her foot in a traffic accident and then dancing again with a prosthetic leg, has now been featured in a local music video.

The accident occurred May 6, 2014, when Alissa Sizemore, 8, of Naples ran into the street and was struck by an oncoming UPS truck, police said. Alissa’s foot was so badly damaged after it was pinned under the tire of the truck that it could not be saved.

Alissa was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital where she eventually underwent surgery to have her leg amputated from the knee down. Alissa, who had taken dance lessons since she was 4 years old, was determined to return to the dance studio in spite of her injury. She did her first solo dance performance nine months after her surgery.

Gentri, a band of Utah native tenors, decided to feature Alissa in their latest music video, “Dare.” The video was posted to YouTube April 2 and the band members said they hope it reminds people to pursue their dreams.

“(Alissa) truly dared to dream and bravely made a return to her favorite past-time,” Gentri said on the YouTube caption.

Gentri, The Gentleman Trio, was established in June 2014 and is comprised of three Utah singers: Casey Elliott, Brad Robins and Bradley Quinn Lever, according to their website.
