OBEDIENCE SCHOOL — Imagine you are the owner of 11 dogs.
You may now be imagining a chaotic amount of energy and noise as your pack of dogs canoodle and romp through your home and yard.
Now imagine it’s feeding time for your pack of dogs.
You may now be imagining even more chaos and noise as you are trampled to death by slobbering dogs while trying to get food into 11 bowls.
Now feel bad that you have not trained your imaginary pack of dogs as well as the owners trained their real dogs in this video.
At first the video seems unremarkable as you watch a bunch of dogs standing still. But when you realize there is food that could easily be gotten if the dogs ran forward, I can practically guarantee you will be impressed.
Even though it’s feeding time, and even though the gate is open, each dog waits — eagerly but obediently — to be called individually to come and eat their dinner.
These dogs have more manners than most children and adults I know, your humble author not excluded. In fact, growing up in a large family, you would have been hard-pressed to find us having a meal that lasted more than 10 minutes after it was set on the table, let alone taking polite turns dishing up our plates.
If these dogs had pinkies they could raise while drinking tea and wearing monocles and top hats, they would.
