UTICA, N.Y. (AP) — Testimony is scheduled to resume in the murder trial of a New York woman accused of taking part in a group attack during a church counseling session that killed her half brother and injured another.
Last week, witnesses described fatal injuries inflicted on 19-year-old Lucas Leonard during what authorities say was a 14-hour assault at Word of Life Christian Church last October.
Sarah Ferguson is one of nine relatives and church members charged with beating Lucas Leonard and 17-year-old Christopher Leonard after the brothers talked about leaving the secretive central New York church.
Testimony in her trial resumes Monday in Oneida County Court.
On Friday, a New Hartford police officer described deep bruising on Lucas Leonard's body and said his pants were saturated with blood.
