SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Mormon church statistics show the historic increase in Mormon missionaries around the world hasn't led to an immediate spike in converts, though church officials say it's too early to draw conclusions. The number of proselytizing members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints increased by 41 percent in 2013, but converts increased by only 4 percent.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utility records show the National Security Agency's massive data center south of Salt Lake City is using less water than expected. The Salt Lake Tribune reports Bluffdale city records show monthly water use at the massive $1.7 billion data center peaked last July at 6.2 million gallons. NSA officials have refused to say if the center is up and running.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 66-year-old defense attorney who has admitted to a sexual relationship with a teenage girl has been sentenced to 120 days in jail. Steven Kuhnhausen pleaded guilty in January to two counts of unlawful sexual contact with a 16- or 17-year-old girl starting in fall of 2012 into January 2013. The Salt Lake Tribune reports Kuhnhausen apologized in court.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Brigham Young has agreed to play a team from the American Athletic Conference in the inaugural Miami Beach Bowl in December. Bowl officials and BYU Athletic Director Tom Holmoe say the Cougars will play at Marlins Park the week before Christmas, assuming they are eligible and not playing a football playoff or other bowl game on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day.
