HOLLADAY — Police say a man was shot in his Holladay home early Friday by his 72-year-old roommate.

Darin Paulus, 54, went to a neighbor's house about 1:15 a.m. and asked them to call 911 because he had "several gunshot wounds to his body," a Salt Lake County Jail report states.

At least one shot was to his abdomen, said Unified Police Lt. Lex Bell.

Police surrounded the man's home, 1879 E. Delann Lane (5920 South), and prompted William Bowen, 72, to surrender without incident.

A motive for the shooting was not immediately known. Bell said several neighbors reported that Bowen had been "acting strangely" the past few weeks and "wasn't himself."

At least two guns were spotted inside the house when police entered, the report states.

Bowen was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault. Paulus was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition.
