CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Officials say new Democratic voter registrations in Nevada outnumbered new Republican registrations two to one in April.

The Nevada Secretary of State's Office reported Monday that Democratic registration grew by about 10,000 voters in April and is up to 512,000. That's about 40 percent of the state's active voter base.

Republican rolls grew by about 5,000 voters and are up to 447,000. They account for about 35 percent of Nevada's 1.3 million active voters.

The number of nonpartisan voters rose to about 242,000 in April and makes up about 19 percent of the state's voter base.

Voters must register no later than May 24 to participate in the June 14 primary election.
