MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Police just outside Atlanta say a man was critically injured during an exchange of gunfire with officers.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says Kennesaw police got an anonymous call around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday saying 18-year-old Devonte Williams was wanted for armed robbery. The caller provided Williams' location and a description of the vehicle he was in.
The GBI says the vehicle stopped in a parking lot when officers initiated a traffic stop and Williams exited with a gun. Williams suffered a gunshot wound when he and Cobb County officers exchanged gunfire. He was taken to a hospital where he was in critical condition.
Two officers were treated for minor injuries.
Williams faces two felony counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer. It wasn't clear whether he had an attorney.
