Outlook

Our valley haze continues as air quality along the Wasatch Front has deteriorated to moderately unhealthy levels. Clouds will increase on Wednesday, with highs more likely staying in the low 40s. A southern storm will arrive in southern Utah on New Year's Eve, producing valley rain and mountain snow. This storm will push north on New Year's Day, producing scattered showers statewide. There is a threat for freezing rain Thursday morning over the West Desert and in areas across eastern Utah - this could lead to dangerous, slick travel, so use caution. We've seen an increase in rainfall totals with this storm. The valleys could see a .25" up to an inch of rain, and the mountains will receive roughly 3 to 6" with up to 10 in the Upper Cottonwoods by Friday morning. Another storm is expected to move in late Saturday and continue into Sunday. Devan Masciulli - KSL Weather 12.31.25
