(KSL News) A former teacher's aide in Tooele County will undergo an evaluation before she is sentenced for sexually abusing a student.
Leslie Baird appeared in court today in Tooele County. She pleaded guilty last November to a charge of forcible sexual abuse. Prosecutors say Baird abused a 17-year-old student. They also say the penalty for Baird's crime should not be different because she is a woman.
Gary Searle, Tooele County Prosecutor: "We're gonna treat you the same. Justice should be served regardless of race or gender."
Today the judge in the case said she should undergo a 90-day diagnostic evaluation before being sentenced. Experts will review Baird's condition at the Utah State Prison.
