WEST JORDAN -- A truck carrying checks and other financial documents on their way to be shredded dumped its load onto Bangerter Highway Thursday.

Just after noon, a latch broke on a recycling company truck, the back door rolled up and bins full of paper fell out spreading the checks and other financial papers all over the highway at 9000 South.

"It looked like it had snowed on the road here. Everything was white," said West Jordan police Sgt. Dave Hanney.

Some documents even said: "This is a legal copy of your check. You can use it the same way you would use the original check."

Police called in street sweepers, parks crews and other officers to pick up as much as they could.

"We did the best we could. We've gone across Bangerter. We've gone up Bangerter. And if you've noticed, we've cleaned up 90th South. We tried to get as much as we could," Hanney said.

Zions Bank officials were also on scene since some of the paper in the truck came from one of their facilities.
