SANDY — A man died Sunday afternoon after being shot by police.

Officers arrived on a call for a domestic situation about 3 p.m. The man, described as in his 40s, got into an altercation with two officers, according to Sandy police.

The man pulled a weapon from his lower leg and charged officers, and the officers fired, police said. The shooting happened inside a house.

Both officers fired two shots at the man, police said. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Investigators were conducting interviews Sunday.

West Valley police will investigate the police shooting.
