SOUTH SALT LAKE — A shooting near a Utah Transit Authority bus station in South Salt Lake on Friday evening left a teenager with critical injuries, and police are searching for the shooter.

A group of teens in a car got into an altercation about 9 p.m. with another group at the UTA bus loop for the Meadowbrook Station. One person was shot and transported to a hospital in critical condition, said UTA spokesman Gavin Gustafson.

The group, including the gunman in the car, took off, and South Salt Lake police were looking for them late Friday.

"The local police have a pretty good idea of their vehicle and are currently pursuing it," Gustafson said.

Authorities believe about three were involved in the shooting, according to Gustafson.

A bus bridge was activated from Millcreek to Murray Central due to the shooting, causing delays.

UTA police are handling the investigation.
