RIVERDALE, Weber County — A 29-year-old man is dead after a crash early Tuesday.

A man driving Mitsubishi Galant was heading north on I-15 near 4400 South in Riverdale when he went off the road to the right and crashed into the crash cushion just before 5 a.m., according to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden.

The driver's side door was ripped off due to the impact of the crash, the Utah Department of Public Safety said.

The driver died at the scene, Roden said. His identity has not been released.

The right lane was closed for a time while troopers investigated to determine what caused the man to veer off the road, but it has since reopened, the department said.
