SALT LAKE CITY — A former bouncer at a Salt Lake bar was charged Thursday with shoving a man to the ground and breaking his wrist.

Rodger D. Brownell, 38, who prosecutors say is homeless, is charged in 3rd District Court with aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, a second-degree felony, and causing property damage, a third-degree felony.

On June 15, a man was standing outside the Green Pig, 31 E. 400 South, waiting for his friends, "as the bouncers told (the victim) that they were no longer letting people inside," according to charging documents.

Brownell, who was one of the bouncers, shoved the man, who then started to walk away.

"Brownell followed (the man) and continued to shove (him) until Brownell shoved (the man) with both hands, causing (him) to fall backward to the ground. (The man) attempted to break his fall with his left hand, which caused his wrist to fracture and his watch to break," the charges state.

The manager of the bar told police she witnessed the incident and that Brownell immediately quit his job after, according to the charges.
