MIDVALE — A man accused of using his car to hit another vehicle multiple times has been arrested in a road rage investigation.
Tyson James Lindberg, 40, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of four counts of aggravated assault with a road rage penalty enhancement.
A driver told police he was on Fort Union Boulevard near 1650 East when he slowed down because Lindberg was "turning in front of him," according to a police booking affidavit. "This upset the suspect, who began following the victim to an office building at 6965 S. 1300 East."
The two men got into an argument in the parking lot, followed by Lindberg backing his car into the victim's vehicle, "causing minor front-end damage," the affidavit alleges. "The victim activated his cellphone camera at this time, capturing video of a second attempted ramming."
When Lindberg left the parking lot, the victim followed in an attempt to get a license plate number. After he got the number, he pulled over near 6800 South and 900 East.
"At this location, (Lindberg) exited his vehicle with a long metal pole in his hand and began coming at the victim in his vehicle in a threatening manner, which constituted a threat accompanied by an immediate show of force, which created a substantial threat of bodily injury. The suspect was swinging the pole and making threatening statements, including mimicking shooting the victim by forming a gun shape with his hand and moving his thumb in a manner to indicate shooting," the affidavit states.
Lindberg then got back into his car and allegedly hit the victim's vehicle once again, causing minor damage.
When questioned by police, Lindberg initially claimed he was the victim.
"When confronted with the fact that there was video evidence, (he) stated, 'It is what it is,' and stopped answering questions," according to the affidavit.
