MURRAY — An arrest warrant has been issued for a third man allegedly involved in a shooting in Murray in April that was the apparent result of a drug-related robbery.
Orlonzo Dominic Segura, 18, of Cedar Hills, was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with aggravated robbery and shooting a gun causing serious injury, first-degree felonies; plus two counts of aggravated assault and illegal shooting of a gun, third-degree felonies. All of the charges come with gang enhancement penalties if he is convicted.
Jordan Sathia Leitner and Mauricio Albert Hernandez, both 18 — who were initially arrested for investigation of attempted murder — were charged with the same counts on July 23.
About 8:35 p.m. on April 1, three men "laid in wait behind a dumpster for the victim's vehicle to arrive in the parking lot" at an apartment complex at 162 W. 4490 South, according to Murray police.
Segura had allegedly arranged to buy a THC vape cartridge from a person in the victim's vehicle, according to charging documents.
"Segura approached the front passenger door, and (a woman) handed Segura a THC vape cartridge. Segura then pulled out a firearm and pointed it at (her). Two males, later identified as Mauricio Albert Hernandez and Jordan Sathia Leitner, ran from behind the dumpster toward the Lexus while holding firearms," the charges state.
Leitner, who was on the passenger side, and Hernandez, who was on the driver's side, "each filed a round toward the Lexus," according to the charges.
One man inside the car was hit in the arm. A second bullet hit the rear passenger door. The victim then drove himself to a local hospital, the charges state.
Detectives used surveillance video to identify the vehicle the three gunmen used to get away, according to the charges. They then identified the three suspects after interviewing witnesses and serving search warrants on social media accounts.
In June, Leitner was convicted of running from police after he was spotted on the Jordan River Parkway carrying an AR-15 with two others, according to charging documents. He was sentenced to one year of probation in that case.
