SALT LAKE CITY — "Música & Palabras de Inspiración," the Spanish translation of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square's "Music & the Spoken Word," will now air weekly on Telemundo Utah.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the partnership on Thursday, calling it an "important milestone" for the choir's 96-year-old program. It said it will help expand the choir's reach to Spanish speakers in Utah.

The Spanish broadcasts have been shared on the choir's Spanish YouTube Channel since 2023.

Tabernacle Choir President Michael O. Leavitt said the program is the choir's "gift of inspiration to the world."

"We are grateful that Telemundo Utah will begin sharing 'Music & the Spoken Word' this Sunday, allowing more of God's children to hear the weekly messages of hope and peace in their own language," he said.

The church said broadcasts on Telemundo Utah will allow the program — which is a month away from its 5,000th broadcast — to reach thousands of new people and families each week.

Terry Hritz, managing director of Bonneville Distribution, said it is "thrilled" to expand the program to more Spanish-speaking viewers.

"'Music & the Spoken Word' has always been about inspiring hearts and connecting people through music and messages of hope," Hritz said.

The choir has recently been working to expand its worldwide audience and added the words "throughout the world" to its mission statement. In addition to translating the program into Spanish, it has also allowed people in other countries to audition to sing with the choir at general conferences and traveled with smaller groups more frequently.
