SOUTH SALT LAKE — A Vernal man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this week.

Michael Lynn Angus, 50, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail early Friday for investigation of aggravated murder.

On Wednesday, Angus and two other men went to the victim's home to "take money back from the victim that was paid to him for a drug deal that occurred prior. (Angus) and the other males were seen on camera walking into the apartment complex and were putting on gloves, signifying that they were willing to take the money by force and did not want to leave fingerprints," according to a police booking affidavit.

After knocking on the door, "one of the males pulled a firearm and shot the victim, ultimately causing his death," the affidavit states.

When questioned by police, Angus allegedly claimed he bought "fake drugs" from the victim earlier this week and went back to the man's apartment to get his money back and was "willing to take it by force."

"(He) admitted that the victim pulled a gun and one of the other guys also pulled out a gun and shot the victim. When asked about the other two males who were with him, (Angus) declined to speak further," the affidavit says.

The identity of the person killed has not yet been released.
